My Top 5 Books for 2019

I started reviewing books again on this blog in 2019 and there were some good ones! Here’s a list of my top 5 that I read in 2019 (some published before 2019). Each has a link to my original review:

Number Five: Target 100: the World’s Simplest Weight-Loss Program in 6 Easy Steps

I really like author Liz Josefsberg’s approach to weight loss and healthy eating. Boy do I need it after indulging over the holidays! Liz is a former Weight Watchers staffer who presents a simpler, easier to follow plan. I like how she addresses the whole person in developing a healthy life style, and not just diet.

Number Four: The Gentle Art of Blessing

I’ve read enough books on forgiveness to understand the value of that practice in my life. Author Pierre Pradervand builds on that premise in this book – not only forgive the difficult people in your life but bless them! A radical concept I have applied to my life.

Number Three: Make Your Bed: Little Things That Can Change Your Life … and Maybe the World

A short book with valuable life lessons from author and Admiral William H. McRaven based on his many years as a Navy Seal. A good book to review often for sound life advice. And he did get me to make my bed every morning since reading the book!

Number Two: Don’t Stop Believin’ – Olivia Newton-John

She’s not a self help author, she’s not a spiritual advisor, she’s just a well known celebrity that gives a detailed account of her life, displaying her positive attitude all the way through. As a long time fan I found Olivia’s stories interesting and I admired how she handled with grace the adversity in her life (like working through her cancer diagnosis)

Number One: Eight Years to the Moon: The History of the Apollo Missions

The 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing in 2019 brought renewed attention to this amazing accomplishment. For a space nerd like me who followed the mission as a kid and who has read numerous books on the subject, this was the best book yet. I learned things about the Apollo program I did not know previously. The book has some wonderful pictures from the Apollo era too.
